Um....I do believe that would be the last time I ever got on that particular elevator. But nice to see the knitting save the day.

Nora

Oh my God.

I'm so glad you were so resourceful. And that you're fine!

Yeah, stay out of that elevator, OK?

Chris

YIKES. Dang. Completely McGyver. You need a badge!

Cookie

MacGyver would be proud!

Connie

That is incredible Kathy! So glad you are such a smart cookie :-D! Your writing is very descriptive. I felt like I was watching a movie. Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. The headband you knitted for me last year is still keeping me warm. We have a big blizzard heading our way...suppose to be arriving tonight. Big Hug, Connie

Carrie K

OMG. Resourceful, Kat but scary! And your ankle......yowza. Congratulations on a successful McGuyver maneuver! I take it that elevator does not reach code standards? The Co Supervisors ought to be notified about this......

Norma

Holy CRAP! Well, it made a good story, anyway. :)

Cathy-Cate

Yay YOU indeed!

I was on pins and needles! (And stitch holders.)
I knew you had gotten out, but still.....

And I have that same emergency knitting kit! Good to know it can help in case of ACTUAL emergency!

Oh my freakin' god. I'm never leaving home without stitch holders again! Never mind leaving the house, I'm never walking from one floor to another without them.

You deserve a badge or at least a pat on the back.

Welcome back!

Helen

Wow!
And my stitch holders -- totally wouldn't work for that! I think I need to get at least one of the more traditional kind (mine look like dpns with caps attached by springy stuff (only one end opens though)).
You are SUCH the MacGyver! I'm not sure I'd have been as successful.

Carole

Wow, what a story! I'm glad you were successful but I just want to know how long all of this took.

soxanne

Wow is right!

And the bag was simply providential!

Amy

Holy cow!

Miss T

Wow! McGyver's got nothing on you!

I'm really glad you made it out okay without reinjuring your ankle. Congratulations on how ingenious you were in extricating yourself with a, uh, knitting thing whose name I didn't recognize that wasn't a knitting needle. But you were very resourceful, and, whoever McGyver was, what you came up with accords perfectly with all the secondary cultural references to him that I've seen. The whole episode kinda makes me dread getting old. I think I'd feel a lot better about you and dad both if you had a cell phone that worked at Antler Lake. Here, you'll like this, it's the world's cutest monkey:

I literally gasped out loud when I read "The lift shuddered slightly and stopped."

The drama was undercut slightly by the fact that I was reading it in a blog post. A blog post that DIDN'T say "OMG HELP STUCK IN ELEVATOR HELP CALL 911 SEND COFFEE!!!!"

That is an amazing story!

Scary! Maybe you should use a cell phone and call the fire department next time. Less chance of injury!

(and, as a bonus...firemen!!)

Vicki

Wow. Good save! All that's missing is the part about the duct tape!!

sophanne

That is amazing amazing amazing. You Rock kmgyver! I'm glad you're safe.

cursingmama

Dude!
(guessing what the son said....I know it's what mine would've said)

You're so creative! I'm sure I would've just sat and cried until someone found me.
