How's this sound?
Finish Maggie's 2nd mitt (doesn't take much time at all). Print out pattern. (that's not starting). Knit one hat.
Swatch.
Knit a second hat.
Cast on....
And alternate between hats and x amount of sweater (besides, the hats are carry-along projects, and the sweater, not as much).
I think that would work! And be easier on your fingers....and psyche.
