Our lake iced over, or mostly over, four (4!) times before the ice finally stuck. Cold weather moved in last week, the lake froze over, and winter is officially here.
Monday is also for wondering why there are those weird, wandering lines across the ice. They are not snowmobile trails because it is too early for those noisy things -- I would know if they were around.
Wow. It really is winter in your part of the world.
I was wondering about those lines, too. Is it too early to have snow drifts out there blowing around? :?

Damn. That is some impressive cold. Monday is for ice here, too. Nothing comparable, but below 32 F and the water in my watering can is frozen solid.

The lines are a puzzle.

Those lines come from when the Bumbles play hockey; I can't believe you didn't know that.

My mini-pond in the backyard is frozen over, too. Of course, not nearly so impressive! Glad I brought the koi in. . .

Wind.
It plays across what used to be water, and makes lines... shifting the frost around.
