Ten Last-Minute Gift Ideas.
- A hand-knit sweater. Not.
- A Calorimetry. THAT is doable.
- One of Judith Durant's One-Skein Wonders books and a skein (or three) of luscious yarn. The best part is you get to go yarn-shopping.
- 99 Essential Christmas Masterpieces from Amazon. It only costs $1.99 (if you bought each individually it would be $98.01), and it ships online. From Roger Ebert on Twitter.
- A tin of home-made [fill in the blank -- fudge, cookies, candies, whatever you are good at]. One year I made several different kinds of spiced nuts. They were a hit and, I like to think, a welcome break from the never-ending stream of sweets.
- A donation to the recipient's favorite charity. This is what I did for #1 Son for his birthday earlier this month and he was quite pleased. It becomes increasingly difficult to come up with an appropriate gift when one's offspring is 26 and lives a thousand miles away.
- *Gift certificate* good for something you will do for the recipient -- snow shoveling, childcare, lawn mowing, future knitting, whatever.
- Oops, I'm out of ideas. Good luck!
I'm liking this 10 on Tuesday!
That 99 collection is pretty stunning. Whoa... With a bow...

An excellent list. I particularly like #3 and #5. Also, Franklin Learning Center donates to Heifer International in the name of the volunteers, which I think is very clever.

Just spent 1.99 on myself. After I checked to make sure it had Unto Us a Child is Born - Thanks!

Excellent list. I think I'll do #2 for next year for the granddaughters.

Nice list! #1 isn't doable? Uh oh.
#8 - Don't try your local 7-11 Christmas Eve evening. All the best stuff is gone. :)

#6 is the best! It's a definite win-Win-WIN!

I am a fool for things in tins. I get giddy when I see a tin. And if there is just a little bit of foil peeking out at the edge, I swear to you I actually begin to drool. Is it fudge? Cookies? Chex Mix? I can't wait!!! In my experience, all the best things come in tins.

I bought mr beest a membership to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust for his birthday a couple of years ago. He just told me to renew it annually, because it really is (pardon the pun) the beez kneez. I've also given him once for Christmas a sheep to graze the moors on RSPB land :-) This year he was lucky, I had a pair of handknit socks on reserve. (I still haven't figured out what I'd like/need, just happy to be with him for a whole month. We're capitalism's worst nightmare...)
