In my many decades on this planet I have only shopped on Black Friday twice, both times in Chicago. We were visiting my husband's family for Thanksgiving one year, and certain others in the family wanted to go downtown to Water Tower Place on the day after Thanksgiving. It was sheer unadulterated hell, and to this day I still cannot figure out why I agreed to go along. Overdose of turkey, probably.
The other time we were in Oakbrook for another relative's wedding and decided to take advantage of Best Buy's sale. We studied the ad, decided what we wanted, marched in, bought a TV and a Palm, and marched out. We most certainly did NOT attempt to be there at 5am or whenever BB opened, and we did not browse around the store. It was not nearly as crazy as the Water Tower Place disaster nor the scene in the video.
If I never shop on Black Friday again it will be too soon.
