You know that thing you do, that thing where you walk into a LYS and you are just going to look a little, you know, see what they have, see if there is anything new, and somehow you walk out with a little something that you didn't really intend to walk out with? You know that thing?
I did that thing.
Pins 'n' Needles is primarily a quilt store, but it has a smallish room in the back devoted to yarn. The owner carries lots of Plymouth yarns and Ella Rae worsteds and a bit of Noro Kureyon and a few others I don't remember. But now she carries this
and this
and this
although she has slightly less of it than she did this morning.
It is all Araucania from Chile. The first is Ranco Multy, a 75-25 superwash wool-nylon sock yarn; #2 and #3 are Aysén, a single ply heavy worsted, 70% merino wool, 20% alpaca, 10% silk, and 100% soft as butter. What makes it special -- besides the latter's softness and resemblance to Malabrigo -- is the colors. They reminds me of the Colinette yarns I used in the afghan I made about ten years ago. Absolutely gorgeous colors.
Sorry, gotta go cast on now. Can't wait...
