We got home at about 6 am today. (Smokey loves to drive at night.) Our reservation in the Black Hills campground had one more night left, but it was so hot we decided to leave for home -- the cool woods and lakes of northern Wisconsin were calling to us.
Imagine our dismay to arrive home to the worst heat wave in recent memory... and no power at the house. No air conditioning, no fans. There had been severe thunderstorms on Sunday night, and apparently a power line had gone down somewhere.
We crawled into the beds in the basement where it was reasonably cool and slept most of the day.
Electricity was restored later in the morning, so our bedroom is now cool and the ceiling fan in my [non-air-conditioned] office is whirling the air.
Full report(s) later, but rest assured that the lace shawl is still progressing nicely :-)
