Today Carole has asked us to share the activities of our long weekend with you.
Some people have spectacular Memorial Day weekends, filled with picnics and softball games and community memorials and hiking and kayaking and canoeing and even waterskiing.
Others have to work. We are grateful for the police protection and fast food service and nuclear power plant vigilance and nursing care they provide.
Our weekend was somewhere in between.
Ten Eighteen A Bunch of Things I Did This Weekend.
- Binge-watched House on Netflix. This continued on and off throughout the weekend. There was also knitting.
- Sent Smokey off to work.
- Watched the first two episodes of Neil deGrasse Tyson's The Inexplicable Universe with Elder Son.
- (Saturday) Attended our lake association's annual meeting.
- Knitted during meeting. Wait til I show you what I am knitting!
- Gave the county report through April 1, the election date, to said lake association. Made [somewhat snarky] observation that the new county representative -- the one who defeated me in the election -- was not in attendence.
- Made motion for lake association to give $1,000 to library building fund. This is probably the best thing I have done in a while.
- Chatted with the lake folks whom I haven't seen since last summer.
- Played with Elder Son's new dog. More on said dog in another post.
- Arranged the deck furniture in preparation for the summer. And for deck knitting.
- Turned off the heat, turned on the a/c. As is usual in the Upper Midwest, spring occurred one rainy Tuesday afternoon. Summer is now here.
- Baked a blueberry pie.
- Sent Smokey off to work.
- (Sunday) Wondered why Younger Son wasn't here yet. We had expected him by noon.
- Made a fabulous dinner of grilled beer brats, potato salad, fresh corn on the cob, and chips. And beer.
- Sent Smokey off to work. Monday = holiday. Holiday = double time.
- (Monday morning) Wondered why Younger Son wasn't here yet.
- Discussed Younger Son's car troubles with him on phone.
- Knitted on the deck. First time this year.
- Played with this site which I found through Chris. Question: what color do you think puce is? Two different answers.
