Recently I read somewhere that the term "guilty pleasure" should be banned, mainly because if something gives one pleasure there should be no guilt involved. Or something like that. In any case, I think we all know exactly what is meant by the phrase. Here are mine.
- George Thorogood and the [Delaware] Destroyers.
- Bedtime snacks. I would probably lose ten pounds if I could cut these out, but... A couple glasses of wine, crackers, cheese, olives, nuts, whatever (not all at once, though).
- Taking the long and/or slow way home so that I can listen to more of my audiobook, when I really should get home more quickly because I need to [whatever task I am avoiding].
Hmmm. I can think of lots of other things that give me pleasure -- no snickering in the peanut gallery! -- but none of them cause guilt. Yay for guilt-free living!
